Baring all, the album itself follows a reflective trend, discussing personal events and thoughts throughout - presented with an honesty rarely seen in a debut album. Signature hip-hop elements such as, loud drums, DJ scratching and complex rhymes reinforce the sincerity of the album, whilst the intricate song writing and subject matter provides an air of maturity and growth not only for Kryptic, but for the rapidly expanding Australian genre it’s representing.
‘The Soundtrack’ features Ohio hip-hop heavyweight Copywrite, notably of Mhz and Weathermen fame on the first track of the album ‘By The Bay’. A fitting introduction to both the album and those unfamiliar with Kryptic, re-iterating throughout the song ‘Who am I’? Featuring production from around the globe, most notably from Engineer (CAN) who has produced for artists such as Immortal Technique.
Heavily influenced by his own musical background, Kryptic has added his own flavor to the album musically, playing piano, guitar and many virtual instruments throughout the record.
With an underlying sound that is very grass roots hip-hop, the fully independent album provides the listener something relatable, yet concurrently something so very unique and ‘kryptic’. Bending genres through soul, hip-hop and acoustic rock, it is expression at it’s finest.
To support the release of the album, Kryptic will be playing a Melbourne launch show in February (date and venue TBA), with east coast Australian tour dates expected for March 2015.
‘The soundtrack to your life – Is it fast or slow?
I'm no longer just a listener, I'm trying to write my own’ – Kryptic
